Old Catholic Cemetery

A Catholic cemetery stood on „Ruppenberg“ since 1903, its entrance marked by an intricate wrought iron gate, which has now disappeared.

The cemetery cross from 1904 bears the inscription: „Do not pass by without a prayer. Soon you be one of us.“ Until the opening of the municipal cemetery above the castle, this graveyard was used by the Catholic families.

The Jewish community had their own cemetery on „Ruppenberg“ a short distance away. Members of the Protestant community could, at the request of their families, be buried in the cemetery at the church in the valley.

The Catholic cemetery has, in the meantime, been closed, and most of the gravestones removed.
